These are usually used as wooden coat pegs for hanging coats and hats and can be used in the kitchen for cups and mugs, tea towels or pans etc. They are useful in the bathroom or bedroom for hanging clothes or towels.
My pegs feature a threaded tenon which was used on many of the original shaker peg rails and is something you will not find on machine made pegs. This fixing is very strong and allows the fixing screws to be hidden behind the removable pegs.
This is polished with many coats of shellac to produce a lustrous finish and is then buffed with natural beeswax. It is a traditional finish and very attractive.
The oil finish is a very natural finish with a low lustre bringing out the beauty of the wood without a built finish. It does tend to darken the wood slightly but enriches the wood.
Unfinished bare wood sanded and ready for you to paint or stain etc. We use maple for the painted rails as the grain is smother and gives a better finish. Oak is however good for a distressed look as the grain is more raised and can be gently sanded back leaving areas of bare wood
Oak is a strong hardwood that has varying light brown colour and an open grain. It is very attractive and will mature and develop over time.

Beaded Edged Maple
A very strong wood which was used extensively by the Shakers. It has a light colour and a smooth texture. A beautiful timber.
The peg boards are approx 1"(25mm) deep by 3"(76mm) wide. The pegs are 2 3/4" (70mm) long.
We offer two types of tenon for the pegs : The traditional threaded screw design which allows the rail to be easily removed from the wall for redecorating, or the more common push-fit design at slightly lower cost.

The peg rails can be made to measure and can be made to any length and with different peg spacings. Lengths can be made in one strip up to 8 feet in length and can be jointed for even longer strips. We can cut mitre joints for going around corners or left oversize for you to fit. Feel free to email us with your requirement and we will give you a quote. Please note I am happy to work in metric.
We have a small stock of peg rails but due to the many different sizes, woods and finishes most of our peg rails are made to order and dispatch time is up to 10 days.
